| Key West: The southernmost slump
At Key West's quaint Tropical Inn on Duval Street, the communal microwave is heating a lot of food these days. ''More guests have been bringing back leftovers from the restaurants,'' said Jane Lowe, owner of the inn. ``Instead of going out for dinner and lunch the next day, they'll eat those leftovers for lunch. We see a lot of people cutting corners.'' Most of the 312 businesses and 39 kiosks now operating on Duval Street are feeling the pinch of the penny-pinching vacationers. Some are struggling to survive in what normally would be considered high season. ''It's slow on Duval Street, but it's slow all over the country,'' said Virginia Panico, executive vice president of the Key West Chamber of Commerce. ``There are times when we don't feel it, or are the last to feel it.

Grand Theft Roto: Get ahead of curve on potential trades
The NHL is alone among professional sports in having a trade deadline that guarantees excitement and action. In the NFL, trades are rarely exciting, in the NBA they happen all the time and in baseball they are smaller in numbers and nature. Trade deadline day is something that actually gets marketed with success now. With less than a week until the deadline, I figured I would go through some of the rumored names and look at what impact their absences would have on their teams. It's far too difficult right now to forecast which players might be traded to which team for what, but it is becoming increasingly obvious which players are likely packing their bags. This way you can have your finger on the button whenever a deal goes down. In competitive leagues, you may even want to pick up some of my suggestions ahead of time.

Chefs’ chicken protest ‘hurts farmers’
Don't we already have an obesity problem in this country ?? So a little cutting back wouldn't hurt. Also does anyone realise that when you buy a chicken ready meal its more than likely that the meat comes all the way from Thailand (I have had this arguement with two leading Supermarkets this year) read the back of the pack. Do you really want to be eating this way? Apart from the health aspect shouldn't we be reducing our carbon foot print? .
Storms uncover mystery shipwreck
We need immigrants to become U.S. citizens and participate not only in the benefits of citizenship but also the obligations. It ain't all gravy and if a majority of us don't start believing that then our grandchildren etc will definitely live in a very different world. You're stupid if you trust the other folks in the world. The folks who would take your country and your freedom. The only people who can be trusted is US. The only thing all of those folks will understand will be power. Think, vote. No, I am not talking about Obama or Clinton. Mr. McCain is the only possibility... .
